On 8 March 2015 DROP and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Office in South Africa organized an expert Roundtable discussion in Johannesburg. The Roundtable discussion reflected on the COP21 Paris Agreement and particularly what it will mean for South Africa. The aim of the Roundtable was to investigate in an interdisciplinary manner, what challenges and opportunities arise from the agreement and how law, politics, finance and related mechanisms can further climate change justice ahead and enfold protection mechanisms for the most vulnerable. At the same time the group of experts focussed on new development pathways related to international law perspectives and energy security issues that can make Southern Africa leapfrog economically, adapt to and mitigate climate change and alleviate poverty.
